As Infiniti prepares to make the headlong dive into Europe at this year's

Geneva auto show, it's arranging all of its ducks in a row. Just about every vehicle that it intends on selling in Europe has been updated, even if it's only slightly, ranging from the M45, which is now available with all-wheel drive, to a facelifted version of the FX, which will actually be debuting in Switzerland, and is expected to feature a new engine lineup. But the cars that will matter most to Infiniti for Europe will be the G and the EX, both of which have also been updated.

When Infiniti launched the redesigned G Coupe, it upgraded the famous VQ engine from 3.5 litres to 3.7 litres, gaining the new V-VEL valve timing, which resulted a name change from G35 to G37. This has had many folks wondering why Infiniti only stuffed the bigger, more powerful engine in the Coupe, and not the sedan or some of Infiniti's other products. Well, this will be changing, as Geneva marks the launch of the G37 Sedan, which will be available in Sport

(with active rear steering) and all-wheel drive variants.

And although it just launched in North America at the start of this year, the EX compact sport crossover will also get the 3.7-litre engine to become the EX37.

Infiniti says the 3.7-litre engine's output grows to more than 306 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which isn't actually much of an improvement over the current 3.5, but these figures are for European-spec cars with different emissions, regulations and tuning. When these cars arrive for model year '09 in North America, these figures should be closer to the G37 Coupe's 330 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.
