Recently, an executive at Lexus of Australia spilled the beans as to what's

coming down the line for Lexus. A brief overview of the plans include beefing up the brand's "F" performance line, as well as introducing new smaller models, which will give Lexus a chance to compete in the burgeoning compact premium hatchback market.

Lexus' IS-F, just going on sale now, is the brand's first high-performance model, and it certainly won't be the last. Lexus is reportedly working on an “F” version of its GS sedan, which would compete against BMW's M5 and Mercedes-Benz's E63 AMG, with the possibility of a high-performance LS as a way to compete against the Audi S8 and AMG S-Class.

the few hybrid SUVs available it's starting to get a bit dated. Sometime before 2010, Lexus will have a brand new version of the RX, which will be based off the LF-Xh concept. So far as we can understand, it will continue to be offered as a five-seater, and a hybrid model is once again on the bill. In fact, Lexus is making it a distinct point to offer every vehicle it makes with a hybrid alternative.

Amongst other vehicles in serious consideration is a production supercar, as well as a two-door version of the IS. With many of its key rivals now producing coupes, and with Cadillac scheduled to join in shortly, we wouldn't be surprised if Lexus followed in suit, with a convertible version to follow.
