Endeavor Made Good Argument due to High Quality

Two weeks since our last update, now theres 1,707 miles on the odometer, and our long-term Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited is still the most popular choice, for weekends especially.

Were still looking for things to complain about but have had little luck digging up any dirt, other than from under the tires. Really, the logs are hardly worth reading as theres nothing but glowing praise for this vehicle. Just so you know were not just a bunch of on-the-take journalists, willing to say anything to get the use of a new vehicle for four months, two independent survey companies polled their readers and came up with equally positive results.

The most recent is from J.D. Power and Associates, probably the best known third party analytical firm next

to Consumers Reports. J. D. Power rated the new Endeavor in second place behind the Toyota 4Runner in its latest 2005 Initial Quality Study (IQS). That puts it ahead of the Honda Pilot and Nissan Murano, which are tied for third place - pretty impressive company.

This, plus winning Auto Pacifics 2004 Premium Mid-Size Sport Utility Vehicle Satisfaction Award, makes it clear that were not the only bunch of testers who are impressed with Mitsubishis midsize entrant. The owners themselves

are rating this SUV highly.

A quote by Auto Pacific stated, "Endeavor is the most satisfying Premium Mid-Size SUV in its first year on the market. This is a remarkable accomplishment given the well-established and strong competition it faces. Endeavor has bold and distinctive styling, unique and different from any other SUV on the market, an easy-to-live-with interior, and fine performance. It is also an exceptional value. The fact that it drives like a really well sorted-out passenger car helps considerably too. All these factors contribute to Endeavor owners being

highly satisfied with their purchase."

And now for our updated log entries:

Mileage: 1,729 miles

Trevor: Ive been doing so much traveling over the last two weeks that I havent spent enough time behind the wheel of the Endeavor. Nice to be back to driving something immediately comfortable. All too often I find myself choosing the Mitsu over the other two short-term loaners parked in the driveway, whatever they are from week to week, for this same reason. Im picky, and when little things dont work the way I feel they should I dont want to spend much more time with a car. Ill force myself to, just to give a vehicle its fair shake, but all too often, like right now, Im back

Jennifer: One of the first things I usually do when I test a new car is to figure out how all the different controls work. I even pull out the manual, if need be. Very "unmanly" of me, I know. I often get cars that havent had the right time for months (reminiscent of the VCR flashing 12:00, 12:00, 12:00). Clocks usually require the manual. I digress. With the Endeavor, though, while I initially set up my favorite radio station presets, I hadnt noticing that you could change the information on the center dash screen. The graphics are quite well executed; clear, concise, and well, cool. I had it set on the HVAC screen. Now I am having fun playing with the different options. The only problem is that when you have the

lights on during an overcast day (which is not uncommon in Vancouver) you cant see the screen very well. The combination of the screen being lighter and the glare from the sky makes it almost impossible to make out.
