2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited Long-Term Test Update No. 5

Time for a Road Trip? But wheres the DVD Player?

An additional two weeks and the long-term Mitsubishi Endeavor Limited has racked up a total of 2,570 miles, more driving than I had thought Jennifer or I did. Oh yes, almost forgot that Alexandra took it on a short four-hour road trip, filled with friends and their stuff.

Other than that, the Endeavor remains the vehicle most likely to have child safety seats strapped in back, and the vehicle that most often gets loaded up with what-have-you on weekends. Mitsubishi might not be too thrilled that its also the vehicle to get left behind at the airport Park and Fly each week when I go off on my various press trips, because it gets me there with deft competence when Im running late, hauls all my luggage

and then some, and is a wonderfully comfortable rig to meander home after Ive arrived home from back east at some unruly time beyond the midnight hour (i.e. 3 - 4AM EST). - Editor

Trevor: Did one of those mega-shopping

trips to the grocery store and actually filled the back of the Endeavor up solid. I should shop like this all the time, as the bulk buying could really save my family money over the long haul. Couldnt drop the seats to make more room, as Jennifer stayed home and I took both kids (yeah, a sucker for punishment), so I was glad there was so much room in the cargo area.

Mileage: 1,982 miles

you know I hate to complain but this SUV is really wide. This is good when Im loading it full of gear or trying to fit any number of child safety seats side-by-side, but it makes parking in my puny stall a bit of a challenge if Trevor happens to have brought something larger than a smart fortwo home for the week. That width also makes it a bit tough for reversing, as I find it difficult to see what I may or may not be backing into. Argh, the story of my life. So the conundrum... massive interior space or ease of parking, as it seems I cant have both. The jury

Alexandra: Hey, this is an ideal vehicle for a road trip, so I nabbed it from the company parking lot and off I go, tunes cranked. Wow! Those TV ads arent joking, the tunes really do crank in Mitsubishis. Trevor tells me, that while the Endeavors audio system is great, the new Eclipse top-line stereo is even better. Cant wait to try it. Its been more than a year since I last drove the Endeavor, and its good to be back behind the wheel.

guys in the back, and its party time. Oh, I suppose I should sound more professional... and were off for an enjoyable afternoon of taking in the scenery, good food and great conversation... plus great tunes too, of course. Theres tons of room, so everyone is stretched out and comfortable.
