2007 North American Car and Truck of the Year Finalists Announced

Six Finalists and One Mix Up

As the new year quickly approaches, were now starting to reflect on the year that was 2006. It was a busy time in the auto industry with over 60 new or heavily redesigned vehicles launched, and now the opportunity has come to pick the best of the best with the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards.

In terms of trophies handed out in the awards history, domestic cars won eight times, the Japanese three times, and the Europeans have garnered four victories. Last

year marked a significant moment for the event and for Honda, as the Japanese brand took home Car of the Year with the new Civic and Truck of the Year with the Ridgeline.

For this year, eleven cars made the cut for the Car of the Year list. They include the Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Caliber, Infiniti G35, Jaguar XK/XKR,

Lexus LS 460, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Nissans Altima and Versa, Hondas Fit, the Saturn Aura and Toyotas Camry. Of those, the jury selected the Fit, the Aura and the Camry for further examination. This years short list was packed full of luxury and premium vehicles; it is surprising to see that much less glamorous vehicles are still winning over the panel.
