T2X May Become Part of Chevys Global Product Strategy
One of the unexpected highlights of this years Seoul Motor Show comes from a surprise concept contender, the Chevy T2X. While the bowtie may symbolize the "Heartbeat of America" in its home market, since GM took over South Koreas Daewoo Motor Corp to form GMDAT (GM-Daewoo Automotive & Technology) with Japanese automaker Suzuki, a growing number of Chevrolet products, such as the Aveo, Optra and Epica have come from the Far East. The T2X Concept is the next phase in GMs global plan for Chevrolet.
The follow-up to the S3X concept SUV which debuted at last years Paris auto show, the T2X is a more compact, rough n tough two-door sport

The T2X concept is expected to be based off of the S3Xs platform, which when it arrives on production lines will be an offshoot of GMs compact SUV architecture. The T2X will be the smallest of the group, which includes the likes of the Saturn VUE, Chevrolet

While the near production S3X Concept was styled to reflect a forthcoming vehicle, the GMDAT design team has gone all-out with the shape of the T2X. From the official sketch, the T2X carries cartoon-like oversized front fenders arches to each side of the oversized center mesh grille. Futuristic projector-beam headlamps catch a striking pose, while gaping front vents on the lower fascia are crossed with scalloped doors and a swept-back windscreen to give the T2X the look of a sporty

Hardy Spranger, Executive Director of Chevrolet Europe said, "The T2X is a very attractive concept that picks up the styling cues first seen on the Chevrolet S3X which will be on the European market next year." Spranger also added, "The T2X could fit very neatly into Chevrolets European product line-up. As we did with the S3X, we will monitor public reaction closely before making a final decision."
With Sprangers comments about Chevy of Europe, several key issues come to mind, both of which can be linked to the T2Xs metal-trimmed grille. While the car will have the golden bowtie, the shape is much in line with the current Opel grille. While it has been established that the production version of the S3X will be the forthcoming replacement

Following the path of speculation, theres also a hint of possibility that something very close to the T2X could show up in dealerships. Now that Saturn has adopted Opels corporate face, as reflected in the Sky roadster and the Aura midsize sedan concept, its only logical to think that Saturn could benefit from the T2X. A product such as this could be beneficial to the domestic brands lineup, plugging the gap of a go-anywhere, do-anything SUV, especially now that GMC will be bringing the curtains down on its two-door SUV, the Jimmy.
As with the S3X, the details to the T2X concepts motor, transmission and drivetrain are enshrouded in the typical auto show vale of secrecy.
