One of the Cheapest Ways of Moving Seven People

Dont be surprised if you havent heard of Dacia. The Romanian carmaker isnt exactly a household name in North America, having never sold a single car across the Atlantic. However, this little car company, which sells the majority of its vehicles in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, has been making some seriously big waves in Europe since it was taken over by Renault-Nissan. Its first vehicle, the Logan, set out to do the unthinkable: provide modern, first world engineering capable of meeting

all European safety and emissions standards, while selling for less than 5,000 Euros ($6,350 USD), and making a profit.

After launching the wildly successful Logan, Dacia has launched its second vehicle, the Logan MCV. Where buyers were initially offered a four-door, five-seat sedan, the MCV provides van-like utility with seven seats, all while using

the same drivetrain and a stretched version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance-B platform.

The MCV is a four-door tall-body station wagon, featuring two Dutch-style doors that are 1/3 and 2/3s the width of the vehicle. Amazingly, for being just 10.6 inches longer than the sedan, the MCV is able to pack in three rows of seats, the final row of which is capable of comfortably carrying occupants up to 62" in height without any difficulty. In fact, the third row has more knee-room than the second-row! For a car of this price, the Logan MCV is actually a safe bet, thanks to Renault-Nissan engineering. (Photo: Dacia) />
The MCVs boxy design and clever layout make it ideal for cargo hauling too. Even with the third row up, its cargo bay can still hold 7.0 cu-ft. Dacia has made the third row seats fold in a 50/50 split configuration, and removable, which can boost cargo volume to 24.7 cu-ft, and with the second row out, up to 70.6 cu-ft worth of gear can be stowed!

Being based off of the Alliance-B architecture, used on the Renault Clio, the Logan is stiff, rigid and safe. Standard safety equipment includes anti-submarining seats, three-point seatbelts for all occupants, and two front airbags, with optional

four-wheel discs featuring ABS, and side airbags. Dacia expects to obtain 3+ stars in the EuroNCAP crash test.
