diesel bandwagon. It's been a widely regarded fact that the luxury brand and its parent company Honda would be bringing diesel engines into the North American market, but now it's been confirmed, according to Automotive News.

The first model that will feature diesel power will be the next-generation TSX, which is expected to launch this spring. The TSX, which in its current form is the European-market Honda Accord, has sold fairly well in North America, but due to the growth of the compact premium segment, sales are increasing to the point where Acura could easily offer a variety of engines to create a broader lineup, as is the case with many of its competitors.

injectors and a NOx trap catalyst. The engine's size is currently small enough that no urea-based treatment would be needed in order to fulfill Tier 2 Bin 5 standards. Besides the diesel, the next TSX will most likely feature an upgraded version of the current 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine, and perhaps a turbocharged 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine as a performance model.

In addition to the 2.2-liter diesel four-cylinder, which may appear in the RDX compact crossover and the Honda Accord sedan as well, Honda is planning on developing a V6 turbodiesel for some of its other models. Such an engine could be used to power the next-generation Acura TL sedan, the RL flagship, its MDX sport utility vehicle, and most likely the Honda Ridgeline pickup and Pilot SUV.
