New Powertrain Warranty Bests Domestic Competitors

With American manufacturers looking for new ways to beat the imported competition, it should come as no surprise that theyd eventually try and beat the imports at their own game: reliability. One of the key attributes potential customers look at when buying a car, domestic manufacturers have been hit hard by such acronyms as "Found on Road Dead" and the accompanying stereotypes. Not necessarily true, the unfortunate reputation has stuck with the Big Three, and theyve suffered for it. So, finally Ford has discovered a way to put customers minds at ease: a downright enticing warranty.

customers with one of the best warranties in the business, Ford is inviting potential customers to do exactly that. Effective July 13th, Ford is extending their car, truck and SUV powertrain warranty to five years or 60,000 miles. Thats an extension of two years and 24,000 miles; a healthy increase indeed. Even more impressive, though, is the increase in Lincolns warranty: with the release of the new MXZ, Fords opted to give all 2007 Lincoln models a six year or 70,000 mile warranty, again an increase of two years beyond

the previous period.

"Ownership costs including warranty coverage are among the top vehicle purchase considerations for customers," said a Ford spokesman. "As of today [July 13th], when you select a new Ford, Mercury or Lincoln vehicle, youll be receiving powertrain coverage that ranks among the best, and receiving the confidence that Ford has in the quality of its brands."
