The hottest ticket in Detroit on Saturday night was the second annual GM Style event, where some of the coolest people came together to take in some of the latest fashions

parading the catwalk alongside a lineup of stylish concepts and production models to the soul-stirring sounds of some of America's top performers. Where last year's event was all about star power, with names like Jimmy Kimmel, Carmen Electra, Petra Nemcova and others taking part as models, this year the stars lit up the stage with live performances of their chart-topping tunes.

The show opened with RandB songstress Mary J. Blige belting out one soulful hit after another as top female models attired in Guess? Inc.'s Marciano line and men wearing Russell Simmons' latest Argyle Culture designs wove between a 1953 Corvette, last year's Chinese design Buick Riviera Concept, a new Cadillac CTS, the recently released Escalade Platinum, a Malibu LTZ and a Saab Turbo X. Very cool.

Next on the agenda was DJ Jacques spinning the tunes as Kevan Hall's designs made the rounds between Chevy's new Beat and Volt concepts and a tuned Saturn Sky Red Line.

cheers went up for Maroon 5 as they took the stage and more of GM's latest creations drove down the runway, starting with a cool Saturn Astra Tuner concept, Pontiac's all-new Vibe GT, the sinfully indulgent Pontiac Solstice SD-290 Concept, the much anticipated Camaro Convertible, still in concept form, the moneyed Hummer H3R Concept and a two-door HHR concept that featured Nomad-style strakes on the rear hatch. Mark Zunino's designs were stunning, and the party rocked on.

DJ Jacques took to the tables again and ushered in three more reveals, Chevrolet's unexpected but delightful E85 Hot Rod, the Camaro Bumblebee coupe that appeared in the movie Transformers, and the Opel Corsa OPC ... could this last one be a harbinger of a future subcompact Saturn? Underground threads, subculture designs for today's youth.

The final act kicked off with Detroit homeboy Kid Rock surrounded by beautiful models in Denim by William Rast and, fittingly, Made in Detroit fashions, while the new Corvette ZR1 was hoisted high over the stage on an elevated turntable, NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon looking on. Kid rock went on to perform some of Motown's favorites, joined later by old-school rapper Reverend Run, from Run DMC, after which he told the crowd of 1,500-plus partiers and 400 or so members of the media about his 1930 V16 Cadillac.

Once again GM threw the party to be at, kicking of the 2008 North American International Auto Show in style.
