New Interior Trim Options Give Buyers Greater Personalization

The XK coupe and convertible are Jaguars oldest, but still sportiest cars. In order to keep pace with the automakers rapidly changing face, which sees it enter unprecedented categories that include the introduction of a new wagon, a new line of diesel engines plus front- and all-wheel drive, the XKs will get subtle styling updates for 2005.

The two models were updated with new powerplants and technologies late in 2003, but now Jaguars grand touring models get new grille inserts, a single mesh-covered unit in

top-line XKR variants. Below the grille, Jaguar has created a second opening to help feed cold air to the engine compartment, while slight styling changes to the lower fascia include a crease line that starts at the cars front bumper.

That crease trails to the rear of the car, which has also been updated with a new lower valance and exhaust system. The XKR receives a slightly taller, more aggressive trunk-lid spoiler. Three new alloy wheels have been introduced

as well, in 18, 19, and 20 inch sizes.

Other changes to XK cars focus on equipment and packaging. Standard features have been bumped up in most models, and optional equipment can now be grouped into packages such as heated front seats with memory function, heated windshield and park assist.

Customers can also choose between different types of interior trim including polished elm wood, brushed aluminum, and piano-key lacquer. The XKR now features Recaro sports seats as well, plus a sport steering wheel, and Brembo disc brakes as standard equipment. Adaptive cruise control, satellite navigation and a premium sound system are optional to both XK8 and XKR models.

The new XK8 and R will be available in dealerships across the country as of April 1, 2004.
