Have you ever wanted to learn how to 4x4? While the prospect of foraging through deep wooded wilderness or clambering over rocky crags might seem a bit intimidating at first, Land Rover wants to take the mystery out of this popular motor sport.

Having experienced great success at its Land Rover Experience Driving Schools, one that takes place in and around the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, an architecturally spectacular resort on AutoRoute 148 between Ottawa/Gatineau

and Montreal, Quebec, and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, the British brand will open a third school at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California in August 2005.

Quail Lodge, by the way, is home to the Pebble Beach Concours, and offers some of the most luxurious accommodations, and best golf available. The Land Rover Experience Driving School is an ideal fit, and the surrounding terrain

Land Rover will offer participants professional off-road instruction so that theyll become more confident behind the wheel of their LR3s, Range Rover Sports and Range Rovers. Those with more experience will be offered advanced off-road courses, while those just starting out will be able to learn the basics.

While the terrain at each location varies, all attendees will be taught proper off-road driving techniques such as ascents, descents, rock crawling, winching and vehicle recovery, plus theyll be instructed in the non-profit Tread Lightly program, which has become a global standard to promote environmental conscious behavior among 4x4 enthusiasts.
