Los Angeles Auto Show to Feature Important New Models and Concepts
Every year the Los Angeles Auto Show fights for notoriety despite being situated in what is arguably the most important car culture in the U.S., only because the North American International Auto Show in Detroit that follows one week later has long been seen as the dominant automotive event.
For this reason the L.A. show will soon get moved to a late November, early December date, and therefore should become much more significant to automakers wishing to upstage competitors by featuring their new models  | | Thanks to Los Angeles unique car culture and always hospitable climate, their auto show is becoming more and more popular with automakers. But there are some new vehicles that suit the California lifestyle so well that automakers just cant help but feature them in L.A. prior to the big Detroit show.
One such model is Chevrolets new HHR, a somewhat late-to-market  | | GM sees California as a key market for its new PT Cruiser competitor, the retro styled HHR. Chevrolet will introduce a total of three new models in L.A. (Photo: General Motors) | competitor to Chryslers PT Cruiser. It will no doubt deliver exclusive features and a unique flavor that the PT doesnt, and notably offers styling that reflects the bowtie brands roots more accurately than Chryslers blast to the past, but only time will tell if the retro trend is still alive and well, Ford Mustang excluded. Either way, GM sees California as a key market for this practical | | Many import brands will join a slew of new GM models, all using the L.A. show to upstage competitors revealing new cars one week later in Detroit. (Photo: Volkswagen of America) | crossover, and it should ring a chord with the GM-faithful Jan and Dean crowd who couldnt past the PT being a Chrysler.
Chevy is also preparing its updated 2006 Monte Carlo and Impala for the L.A. show, both of which will undergo major modifications in order to keep up with new large-midsize models from Chrysler Group and Ford, not to mention GMs Asian and European competitors.

(Photo: Ferrari North America) | GMs domestic rivals, although the imports will be using the show to upstage competitors showing off their cars one week later in Detroit.
Volkswagen, for instance, will feature its all-new Jetta, while the automakers luxury division, Audi, will be showing off three new models, including the compact 2005 A3 Sportback previously shown in Paris, a model line that has never been offered in North America before, as well as the global introduction of the 2005 A4 and A4 Avant.
Audi rival BMW will have its M3 Competition on hand, while Boxster will be showing its all-new 2005 Boxster. Supercar manufacturer Ferrari  | | Bentley is expected to unveil something at the L.A. show, with most analysts believing it will be the upcoming Continental GT-based ultra-luxury sedan. | will unveil its F430 for the first time in North America, and über sedan-maker Mercedes-Benz will show its equally powerful CSL 55 AMG.
