Dodge Avenger Concept Said to Influence New Models Styling
Just as Chrysler has shaken up the midsize segment with its new 300, and hopes to repeat the process with the launch of its stylish new Dodge Charger, the Auburn Hills automakers next-generation compact is sure to ruffle a few feathers.

The system, short for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve and lift timing Electronic Control, uses two different cam profiles to optimize the engines dual intake valves. At 3,500 rpm a more radical lobe engages allowing the engine to pull with the ferocity of a turbo, but with a much more linear ramp-up of power and more tractable torque curve. Also important, both fuel economy and emissions are improved.
The new engine will be featured in a variety of Chrysler Group vehicles that will also share the new compacts chassis architecture. Two of

Not much is known about the Dodge version, other than that it will also resemble the Avenger concept car, but the upcoming Jeep is expected to be influenced by the Compass concept of 2002. When produced, it will be the first vehicle in decades to wear the Jeep name that is not "Trail Rated", a move that has some auto industry experts concerned the brands go-anywhere image will suffer.
