If you're one of the lucky few who do their car shopping in the rarified hyperexotic class, you have reason to rejoice. Pagani, known for their traffic stopping super cars, wants you to consider owning a Zonda R. For those people who might have felt the Zonda F (with its 594 horsepower) was a bit lacking in the performance department, the R should certainly fill the void nicely. Unlike the Zonda F, you will not be able to drive it on the street. This shouldn't be a problem for potential customers, as the Zonda R's mission is to provide the driver with the ultimate track car. Besides, a racetrack is the only place you'll ever run into any of its competitors, such | | This is a Zonda designed to be faster and more aggressive on the track. Separating the R from its road going brethren is easy. Pagani lengthened the wheelbase an extra 1.85 inches to achieve the look associated with GT class sports cars. In profile, it looks like a giant hand has pushed down on the car, givingit a more rakish stance that no doubt contributes to confidence inspiring stability. The end result is a car that offers up dizzying cornering speeds yet still produces a decent amount of down force even at lower speeds.
Although there is no official word yet on hard numbers, glancing at the Zonda R's spec sheet gives the impression that the car will be fast. It's powered by a 750 hp Mercedes CLK GTR-derived engine, mounted in a chassis even lighter than its road-going counterpart. Expect huge, multi-piston brakes with ceramic rotors and a fully adjustablesuspension as well. Pagani engineers should delight in not only the car's | | Very little is shared with the regular Zonda F. Should any drivers become too overzealous, the car is endowed with a plethora of safety features to back up its performance capabilities. It conforms to no rules, other than the one established by Pagani, which is that each Zonda R customer should get to experience true race car performance.
These days, race car performance doesn't come cheap. If you are privileged to be able to consider a car of this magnitude for your own, you can probably afford the asking price. The way the press release discusses the issue of cost is priceless: “The Pagani customers who have ordered the Zonda R will be relieved of almost 1.2 million + taxes.”
