New Cayenne Debuts Porsche DFI Direct Injection System
A little more than a week ago, we reported that Porsche was preparing the update to its Cayenne sport utility vehicle. For quite some time it was known that the German sports car manufacturer was planning on giving the vehicle a new nose and various other tweaks. True to our prediction (aided by a photo), the changes we noted to the appearance of the Cayenne were correct. Though it could be argued that any change in the visual appearance of the Cayenne is important, its the new powerplants that are going to help the Cayenne keep pace with the competition.

(Photo: Porsche) | its engines were particularly poor, but rather that the perceivably "fast" sport utility vehicle was slower than its counterparts from Volkswagen and Audi. This has changed for 2008, now that Porsche has adopted gasoline direct injection (DFI), which yields more power, up to 8-percent lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions. DFI can now be found on all 2008 Cayenne models, spanning the base to the very top of the line Turbo.
