If you're still fighting back tears over Porsche's decision to stop producing itsCarrera GT, cheer up. Well-known Porsche tuner, Ruf will build a slightly smaller, but nonetheless convincing look-alike to your exact specifications. The company's latest model, the CTR3 happens to look like the low and lean supercar, but is completely unrelated. In fact, the CTR3 is a ground-up creation made from zinc-dipped steel, aluminum and carbon fiber, and features a custom body that's more aggressive looking than the GT, bristling with vents and aerodynamic aids.

Ruf is one of the most accomplished Porsche tuners, and though it has been tuning and re-engineering Porsches since 1975, it was only in 1987 that the company gained

notoriety. Its CTR “Yellow Bird” earned the title of World's Fastest Production Car with a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph), eclipsing the Ferrari F40 and Lamborghini Countach for supercar supremacy. Legendary cars like this have cemented Ruf's reputation as a tuner capable of extracting dizzying levels of performance from an already well-engineeredplatform. The CTR3 will no doubt continue this lineage, as it is capable of sprinting to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, and tops out at an unfettered speed

of about 235 mph.

Making these insane velocities possible is a 3.8-liter twin turbocharged flat six engine, making over 700 horsepower and more than 656 lb-ft of torque. Ruf fans will recognize this engine from its original home in the tuner's radical 911 Rt12, though it previously made only 650 hp. The engine is housed in a lightweight shell that combines for a total curb weight of 3,252 lbs, which is the same as a Carrera 4S Coupe.

When it comes to slowing down this fiercely powerful machine, the job is taken care of by gargantuan 380 mm (15 in) ceramic composite rotors, forcefully squeezed upon by equally impressivesix-piston calipers. Showcasing the trick braking hardware are

simple yet beautiful 5- spoke wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear. The CTR3 will have generously sized tires to provide a large contact patch for exceptional handling, braking and acceleration. If there are those that feel steam roller sized 335 section rear tires don't fill out the fenders nicely, tell them to stop watching Unique Whips.
